                                           Executive Director Position Available

Founded in 1941, Richmond Civic Theatre (RCT) is a nonprofit community theatre located in the heart of downtown Richmond, Indiana at 1003 East Main Street. For over eight decades, RCT has been a cornerstone of arts and culture in Wayne County — bringing people together through the shared experience of live theatre.

RCT’s mission is to create live community theatre experiences that engage, entertain, educate, and enlighten. The theatre produces a diverse season of programming including main stage productions, Stage One Youth Theatre, and Richmond RadioWorks.

What makes RCT special is its people. With the exception of a small paid support staff, the theatre is built and sustained by volunteers — the actors, directors, designers, technicians, and behind-the-scenes crews who give their time and talent to every production. This volunteer community is the lifeblood of the organization, and cultivating a culture where volunteers feel valued, supported, and inspired is central to RCT’s success.

As a nonprofit, RCT also depends on the generosity of individual donors, corporate partners, sponsors, and grant funding to keep its doors open and its stage lit. Growing and stewarding those relationships — alongside earned revenue from memberships and ticket sales — is essential to the theatre’s long-term sustainability and its ability to serve the Richmond community.

RCT is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about community theatre, nonprofit development, and the power of the arts to connect people. The ED will work closely with a volunteer Board of Directors and serve as the primary driver of the theatre’s operations, financial health, volunteer engagement, and community presence.
